Just for the record
I've been going on a "Grant Access" and "Subscribe" frenzy.
I've been going through other, more advanced subscribers established lists - I hope that is okay.
I don't post much, largely because I have very little to say (well, worthy of saying more like!), but I love to read others and have grown used to a ritual on LJ. It's been sad to watch the decline there.
Thanks to everyone who has granted me access back.
Now, if I could just get a handle on Tumblr

Tumblr Savior (supports the three above and Opera) PC only: http://bjornstar.com/tumblr-savior
Washboard -- basically Tumblr Savior for mobile: https://washboard.ws/
Tumblr Savior and washboard are blacklist/whitelist extensions. They do one thing, and they do it well. New Xkit does a lot of things, and is extremely customizeable. I'd recommend looking over the list of features and only installing a few at a time, to see how you like them.
Bear in mind that while these extensions make Tumblr easier, they don't necessarily make it easy -- people are currently using Tumblr in ways it was not really designed to be used. It's always going to be a crappy platform for discussion, because it's not supposed to be for discussion, and to follow stuff there, you have to wrap your head around a user interface that' very, very different from the LJ/DW model. I think of it as a giant threaded bulletin board -- except that the threads aren't confined to nice neat forums; they're all floating chaotically around on their own.
